Varsity Cheerleaders will be given an opportunity to purchase THS gear that will be required for THS Cheer in 9th grade. This allows families to budget accordingly and get the most use out of their Cheer gear.

Basic skills in cheerleading are perfected at this level. Teams may learn higher levels when they have exhibited full mastery of basic skills and with the approval of the Cheer Commissioners. Our main goal is to ready the team for High School level athletic training while helping them form a tight bond based on respect, sportsmanship, and hard work. This team will be taught how to lead by example and how to be positive role models for our younger athletes. We will continue building the confidence and athleticism of each girl within our structured training environment. Varsity Cheerleaders will have fun while building the strength, flexibility, and work ethic necessary to advance in this sport. Varsity will participate in warm-ups, fundamental drills for stunting and tumbling, and end-of-practice conditioning/bonding with Mini Pony, Pony, and JV. The Team portion of practices will be spent learning the same cheers, motions, and stunts used by Tuscarora High School Cheer!

This team will cheer during our Varsity Football Games. Game day consists of (4) 8 minute quarters and follows the NFHS format as modified for this age group. They will play an opposing Varsity Football Team on a 100 yard field. Games last approximately 90 minutes and include a halftime show! Coaches will be in front of the sideline Cheer Box with the Cheerleaders to provide instruction and supervision during Games and will be on the field as spotters during the halftime show.
